Spelling Genie

Spelling & Comprehension for 6Y-8Y Olds

Research has found that spelling, reading, writing & comprehension skills are all closely linked. A study conducted by L.C. Ehri for the Scientific Study of Reading found that spelling instruction improves reading ability, as it builds a learner’s knowledge of the alphabetic system. When one assembles letters to form words correctly, they are also building confidence in all aspects of literacy.

Teaching young children spelling strategies, rules and concepts helps grow their vocabulary knowledge and spelling confidence. It also takes away the fear of long or complicated words and children become more confident at attempting to spell words in their vocabulary as well as words not there in their repertoire. It also helps children to convey their ideas in written as well as verbal formats, thereby making them effective communicators for life.

Storytelling is an essential part of a child’s early development. This article provides insight into how to use storytelling with your kids and why it’s so important for their emotional and cognitive growth.

Life skills are behaviours that enable individuals to adapt and deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life. At NutSpace we focus on building these skills along with other literacy skills.

According to a World Economic Forum, children need to be equipped with Social and Emotional skills to be able to thrive in the workplace of the future.

How Do We Build Reading Skills?

We use quality content created and vetted by early years educators. Each program curriculum has been developed keeping the reading level of the child in mind. We have divided our reading program into 5 levels. We use engaging stories, music, fun activity, games and practice reading with guided reading, shared reading and read-aloud to build reading and comprehension skills in your child.
