Book Recommendation: List for Middle Readers

Once you have managed to get your child hooked to books, you will need to continuously feed their appetite by offering them books and stories that encourage them to go on reading. Here are a few wonderful books to keep them going.

Books for Middle Readers:

Books for Kids: Wonder

Wonder

by R.J. Palacio

A book that not just children but everyone should read. A book that helps one believe a little bit more in the universe and handles kindness without sermonizing. Wonder is an absolute wonder. You may even watch the movies with your child after reading the book.

books for preteens: history mystery series

The History Mystery Series

by Duckbill

History will never be boring again. Natasha Sharma has a way with words and a huge sense of humour. The characters from history have never been more approachable. Of course, some bits are fictionalised; you will be surprised to find out how much isn’t.

Books for Kids: One and Only Ivan

The One and Only Ivan, The One and Only Bob

by Katherine Applegate

Anthropomorphism is not my favourite genre but this series will make you fall in love with it. Themes like courage, family, friendship, and love have been dealt with beautifully in these books.

Books for preteens The Graveyard Book

The Graveyard Book

by Neil Gaiman

Once you read this book, you will never look at a graveyard in the same way again. Neil Gaiman is a magician and has the ability to make you imagine almost anything, even ghosts bringing up a human child.

Harry Potter Book Series

Harry Potter Series

by J.K. Rowling

If you still haven’t picked up this series, you must do it now. This series has converted many non-readers into book lovers. Rowling has created a world that every child and grown-up will dream to be a part of. The characters are absolutely brilliant and even though it’s a world of witches and wizards, everything about their emotions is very relatable even to muggles. She has coined terms that you will love and find yourself using all the time.  It’s the kind of series that will enchant you, entertain you and even rescue you. And once you get started you will yearn for more and more. The magic of Harry Potter is real. You will find your child and yourself revising this series over and over again. Just go for it. You won’t be able to stop anyway.
