How to Accept and Embrace Your Role as a Father?

Fatherly roles have changed over the years. While your own father may have played a ‘breadwinner’ role and your mother was your nurturer, times have changed and it is more acceptable for a father to take a more fulfilling role in their child’s life. This has many benefits for your child but also for you as a father. You will now be present and responsible for those all-important milestones and experiences that shape a child into the adult they will become.

Studies have shown that a father’s involvement can have a huge impact on a child’s development. A good father/son, father/daughter relationship has been shown to improve:

  • Academic achievement
  • Social skills
  • Cognitive development
  • Sense of wellbeing
  • Self-esteem

These elements shape a very well-rounded, mindful adult. As a father, you are a role model and teacher of all things life-related. Embracing your role is about more than just dropping the kids off at school, it is about using your love to develop your child. Have a look at some more reasons to embrace your role as a father
